All The Flowers I’m Growing This Year, And When
I’ve mentioned before that I’m planning to devote a lot more space and time to growing vegetables in 2023. But I can’t resist not growing flowers at all, so I’ve made a plan of the the flowers I’ll be growing in Brisbane from now, all the way through to the end of the year, so that I make sure I get my quotient of floral beauty!
I’ve narrowed it all down to one project a season. At the start of the year I’m planting bee flowers with lots of colourful zinnia, cosmos and echinacea (if it grows, it is challenging!) because they thrive in Brisbane’s heat. I’m super excited because in autumn I’m going to plant beautiful herbal tea flowers including daisy-like chamomile, orange calendal and pretty pink evening primrose.
In spring I’m going for sculptural, interesting flowers including yellow fronds of celosia and bright green mollusc-like Bells of Ireland. I’m finishing the year with a bang. I am growing enormous dinner plate dahlias, if I can get my hands on the tubers!
