Dahlias In Australia

If you, like me, are obsessed by the absolute beauty of dahlias, you might have found yourself with an ever increasing amount of flowers on your Instagram feed. If growing or just buying dahlias is your thing, I’ve put together a list awesome Instagram accounts to follow that show all the dahlias in Australia. From behind the scenes of the day to day work on flower farms to the amazing bunches that florists are turning out, here are 8 Instagram accounts to follow for more flower therapy. Happy scrolling!

#1 Mount Joy Cottage is the Instagram account of Kirsten Moore based in Victoria. It’s an awesome account to see her and her family grow fields of dahlias and also the process behind their dahlia sales, including the packing and sending out on a large scale.

#2 Flower Farmstead is the Instagram account of flower farmer Jen Nini who recently started her own organic flower farm on Gubbi Gubbi land near Gympie in Queensland. Her Instagram includes awesome BTS of how she set up her farm from scratch and her Creative Sundays where she creates cool displays out her homegrown flowers.

#3 Aravis Flowers is one of my favourite dahlia accounts on Instagram. Owner Allie Macfarlane is based near Manjimup in Western Australia and grow the most stunning dahlias. The field above is to die for!

#4 Palmer and Gunn is not strictly a dahlia account, as their main business is hosting a gorgeous micro stay/Airbnb near the Gold Coast in Queensland… but owner Fiona Gunn started planting a field of Cafe Au Lait dahlias last year with over 100 dahlias, so it is pretty spectacular to watch while you dream of booking a stay on their property!

#5 Serenade Flower Farm is a favourite dahlia seller of mine and Bec McConnell’s farm in Tamborine Mountain in Queensland is so beautiful to follow, with regular dahlia hauls like the one on the truck above! Bec is also amazing at breeding new and unusual types of dahlias. One to watch!

Image credit: Elisabeth Denk from Rose & Abraham

#6 Rose & Abraham is the Instagram account and business of Elisabeth Denk based outside of Melbourne near Castlemaine. She shares the most stunning, moody photography of her flower farm and regularly sells beautiful dahlia tubers, tulips and roses, so it pays to keep an eye on her account to get in first!

Image credit: Phoebe Grealy (that’s me!) AKA Salisbury Grange with homegrown dahlias in my Brisbane backyard

#7 Salisbury Grange is me, Phoebe Grealy! I’ll give myself a quick plug while talking about dahlias in Australia! My Instagram features my foray into growing dahlias in a small backyard space in Brisbane and experimenting with natural beauty while learning at the same time. You can also catch a glimpse of my super-cute Maltese pooch Banjo, even though he is very camera averse!

Image credit: Sam Webb from Wild Violet Flower Farm

#8 Wild Violet Flower Farm is last but definitely not least and is the Instagram account of Sam Webb who has an incredible eye and makes all manner of the dahlias, flowers, vegetables and berries she grows look beautiful. She has amassed a large following for showing us all that a backyard can be turned into a stunning source of produce and flowers.
