When To Plant Calendula Flowers In Australia

Wondering when to plant calendula flowers in Australia? Autumn and spring is the time! This amazing bunch was grown by Floret Flowers. Image credit: Floret Flowers

Calendula flowers are both a great cut flower and can also be useful medicinally. Calendula is used in a lot of skincare because it is anti-inflammatory properties, but I mostly grow calendula for their floral aspect.

In cooler parts of Australia it’s best grown in spring (see my brother’s calendula flowers that he grew in his Sydney garden). Whereas in warmer parts of Australia such as where I live in Brisbane, calendula flowers can be planted in autumn because it’s still warm enough for them to thrive.

There are lots of awesome varieties and colours of calendula flowers, but I love the bright orange balls variety because they are almost a neon orange that looks so cool in a bunch.

And if you are looking for other flowers to complement calendula in the garden, you may like my Seasonal Calendar below which includes a number of other options each season. Happy planting!

My brother Fergus grew these awesome calendula flowers in Sydney - this whole bunch came from just one plant!
