When To Plant Daffodils In Australia

Wondering when to plant daffodils in Australia like these beauties? Autumn is the best time! Image credit: The Farmhouse Flower Farm

The daffodil is a flower synonymous with the start of spring. They start to pop up as the ground warms up in late winter/early spring. For that reason, the best time to plant daffodils in Australia is in March and April so that they can get into the ground and get some cold weather first.

If you live in a warmer part of Australia, remember you can put your daffodil bulbs into your crisper for a few weeks before planting them to give them the sense of cold winter weather. Some of the cute varieties I like are the ruffled cream and orange Replete variety pictured above as well as the classic Paper White variety below.

And if you are looking for other autumn flowers to plant to complement daffodils, you may like my Seasonal Calendar below which includes a number of other options for the season. Happy planting!
