What Flowers To Grow Now In Melbourne, By The Seasons

My beautiful dahlias bloomed all through summer up until April 

After moving, I’ve been feeling a bit stifled by having only a small space to grow in currently. As a result, I have been looking back wistfully on my past gardens and I realised they captured what flowers to grow, season by season!

While there are almost unlimited options of what flowers you can grow, I focus on growing about 3 different flower varieties each season (and then plant quite a lot of each, like 20 sunflowers, 15 marigold, 10 dahlias).

What Flowers To Grow Now In Melbourne | By The Seasons

Autumn (March/April): Sweet peas, sunflowers, bells of Ireland, poppies, Queen Anne’s Lace.

Winter: Sunflowers (only in full sun), poppies.

Spring (August/September): Calendula, chamomile, billy buttons, celosia, sunflowers.

Summer: Cosmos, zinnia, dahlias, basil, echinacea, marigolds.
