10 Spring Vegetables To Grow Now In Brisbane
Spring in Brisbane means we get a perfect warm window to grow our veggies (before the heat becomes intolerable) and almost everything is happy to be planted and growing.
Leafy greens including rocket, lettuce, tatsoi, Kang Kong and basil all grow well in Brisbane at this time of year. I usually grow my own seedlings, but you can save some time buying them (Northey Street City Farm has a good organic range).
Traditional warm weather plants including capsicum, pumpkin, cucumber and eggplants also suit warm and hot Brisbane weather. Controversially, I prefer to plant cherry and heirloom tomatoes in autumn, but they have grown well for me in spring, as long I keep them somewhere that gets part shade so they don’t get pummelled by hardcore Brisbane heat.
