Salisbury Grange x Mary Morag Hats

Morag wearing one of our hats at the Northey Street Markets

My sister Morag who started her own eco-fashion label Mary Morag and I recently decided to collaborate on a limited-edition collection of garden sun hats, using her fashion skills and my love for being outdoors in the sun!

Being Brisbanites we realised we needed sun protection for most of the year — I’m out in the garden a lot and we also both hit up the pool for laps and the beach a lot, so we decided to make a small collection of cute hats that we could throw in a tote for picnics and the beach as well as at home in the garden.

You’ll see that we were inspired by tea flowers when naming the hats, we have a chamomile which is a classic blue and white stipe, and the ginger and dandelion hats which feature floral print, within the group. In the name of sustainability we also had some offcuts leftover from our fabrics, so we decided to turn them into a set of super pretty bows, perfect for wearing to weddings, christenings and the like.

Some of the hats and bows from our collaboration, as worn by me (above) and me in the garden when I desperately needed a hat!

How it started (a stack of fabrics)

How it ended up…Morag with the finished product: The Cosmos Hat

Morag with The T Hat, named after our beloved brother Tom - a lover of cool camo print hats
