6 Gardening Trends To Try In 2024

Is 2024 is going to be the year of growing your own, when it comes to vegetables and flowers? I think so.

With the end of the year rapidly upon us, I’m looking to next year and have noticed 6 gardening trends that keep popping up that I think are going to big in 2024. Check them out below!

#1 Heirloom tomatoes – everyone is sick of the tasteless hydroponic varieties in the shops and are moving back to growing time honoured heirloom varieties like these. Image credit: Melbourne Food Forest

#2 Bee keeping – ever since David Beckham showed off his 9-hive strong bee garden in his doco, regular folks are inspired to cultivate their own bees and honey, just like Beckham. Image credit: David Beckham Instagram

#3 Female flower farming – this floral revolution of micro flower farms focusing on organic blooms is sweeping the world and across each state of Australia. Image credit: Florelie Flowers

#4 Growing your own seedlings – with the cost of living through the roof, we are not only turning to growing our own veggies, but our own seedlings to save $$$.

#5 Marigolds as the new ‘It’ flower – move over dahlias, the humble marigold is reemerging as a flower favourite, which is great news because they’re so easy to grow. (We still love these 2024 dahlia trends too though). Image credit: Floret Flowers

#6 Medicinal herbal teas – echinacea, nettle, chamomile and calendula make soothing teas and are surprisingly easy to grow in a home herbal tea garden.

#7 Bonus! Learning to grow your own veggies + flowers never goes out of style. I share the 5 steps I use to get homegrown lettuce, basil and sunflowers in my new gardening workshops.
